With great solemnity, the Opening Divine Liturgy for the 10th General Chapter was celebrated by Archbishop Cyril Vasil, Secretary of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches in Santa Sofia. A ceremony designed by the Preparatory Commission preceded the Liturgy. Sister Miriam Claire, General Superior, and her Council presented each of the Capitulars and the assisting staff with a prayer shawl on which was emblazoned the Chapter Symbol, the Chapter dates and the country represented. This prayer shawl was designed as a symbol of the unity of the participants.

Following the Divine Liturgy, the participants received a lighted candle and in procession made their way back to the Chapter Hall. After a brief discourse, Archbishop Cyril Vasil blessed the Chapter hall, each Sister, and then called each by name. Each Sister then placed her candle before the symbols which had been placed on the stage. This concluded the opening ceremony and was followed by a festive mail shared in joy by all.

The first actual session of the Chapter took place at 4:00 pm.  Sister Miriam Claire presided and officially opened the Chapter. There followed an orientation period, the introduction of the facilitator, Sister Katherine Duval, SSND and clarification of issues raised by the Sisters. Sister Miriam Claire then turned the proceedings over to Sister Katherine who went over the various procedures and processes necessary to move the work of the Chapter forward.

The session concluded with the Sisters approving the two secretaries and two tellers appointed by the General Administration.

Відкриття 10-тої Генеральної Капітули розпочалося в Базиліці римської Св. Софії урочистою Архиєрейською Божественною Літургією, яку очолив високо преосвященний Архиєпископ Цирил Васіл, Секретар Конгрегації Східних Церков. Перед Літургією відбулася невелика церемонія привітання приготована Підготовчою комісією, під час якої Мити Архиандриня Міріям Клер із своїми Дорадницями подали кожній Делегатці та помічницям Капітули символічний «шаль молитви», на якому зображено в різних мовах місце та дату, а також символ Капітули, який є знаком єдності усіх її учасників.    

Після Божественної Літургії учасниці отримали горючі свічки з якими процесійно повернулися до Капутульного залу. Після короткого звернення Високопреосвященний Цирил свяченою водою поблагословив місце, де відбуватиметься Капітула, та усіх Делегаток. Відтак він кожну учасницю Капітули покликав по імені і кожна принесла свою запалену свічку і поставила перед іконою Богородиці та великим символічним зображенням Капутули на сцені. Так завершилося урочисте і радісне відкриття 10-тої Генеральної Капітули, а після цього відбувся святковий обід.

Перша офіційна сесія Капітули розпочалася о 16:00. Головуюча мати Міріям Клер офіційно проголосила Капітулу відкритою. Відбулося привітання Капітулярних та представлення теми, ролей та обов’язків Капітули, вияснено запитання Сестер. Мати Архимандриня передала провадження Капітулою помічниці с.Катерині ДуВаль, ССНД, яка представила Сестрам процедури та різні процеси, які сприятимуть щоб Капітула добре відбулася.

На закінчення сесії Капітулярні Сестри потвердили двох секрктарок та обліковців Капітули, який запропонувала Генеральна Курія.
